So I was just talking to a fellow gamer nerd at work about this and it turns out he has the game so he's going to loan it to me. :)

First, it's funny you mention K-Mart and station wagon, since both were involved with one of my greatest gaming memories: bringing home my NES for the first time. Perhaps I'll write about that sometime.

Unfortunately, I've never played any of the games mentioned so I had no idea about this. I love it when someone writes something that's so purely educational because I had no idea. :) But the thing that intrigues me the most is the way the grid works, where each thing you unlock, gives you some information about further unlockables, what a COOL idea. I think I'll go pick up this game, just to see how it works out in the real world.

Also, bonus points for using the words "bevy" and "phallus". :)

Ok, Ok. I actually thought about putting the "quotes" around journalist when I wrote that part but decided against it. I thought about calling her a game "writer" but she doesn't really write. I mean, she DOES "cover" games and gaming right? You can't call her a "gaming COVERER". Maybe I should have said, gaming personality? Hell, I still don't know what to call her. Although, I met her and E3 last year and FWIW she's super cool.

I guess "game journalist" is one way to describe Olivia Munn....

So I saw the movie last night. I liked it. Not enough actual screen time for Iron Man for my tastes, but still pretty good. Good performances all around. Some good laugh out loud moments. Felt like more comedy than the last one. But, as it relates to my review of the game, I was interested to see that they pulled several sequences directly from the movie. I wouldn't have noticed that had I seen the movie first. For extra credit see if you can spot the cameo by game journalist Olivia Munn.

I've been on it for about 3 1/2 hours now and it is not possible to beat it. No matter how fast I kill enemies at the beginning, no matter how I choose my team, no matter which weapons my team and I use I can only get 39 kills. I think the most possible for me to get is 40 kills because I could have maybe squeezed in another kill on that 39 kill run but other than that it's impossible. I've literally nailed it down to a thread that it is not possible to beat it with my character. The last mission I got 133 kills with over 10 mins left over until I killed myself.

How devs get away with such broken gaming is beyond me but this is the last time I buy a game from Bioware, these guys are LAZY!

Power stamps were used in conjunction with the Nintendo Power catalog. Each stamp was worth a dollar in the catalog, so you could buy Zelda t-shirts, wallets, watches, 1080 branded snowboards, soundtracks, Nintendo character beanie babies, backpacks, etc.

I didn't just remember that all off the top of my head, my Winter 1998 catalog was like four feet away, lol. Maybe I'll write about that sometime.

  • Mistborn Trilogy and Video Games   14 years 2 days ago

I actually just read the first book last week and enjoyed it a lot. I'd definitely play a Mistborn action title. Steel pushing and iron pulling alone would make for a unique and varied game, but having ALL of the powers available to use would be a perfect "play your own way" experience.

Hope you have a great day. Nice to have it on a Friday. :)

And yeah, you're more famous than I'll ever be. I remember back in the day, there was a high score section of the Nintendo Fun Club News (yeah, I'm an older gamer) and I was trying to get in it. Never did though. :(

  • My brush with fame in Nintendo Power   14 years 3 days ago

And screw you Nintendo Power for not printing my high score on Area 6 in Star Fox 64. Guess the polaroid I sent them of the TV wasn't clear enough.

I don't think I ever called the Nintendo Power Hotline, but I did call some contest number where you could win an N64 and games if you answer five questions correctly. And the one question I missed was about Donkey Kong Land.

    First, happy birthday!

Second, what exactly is a Power Stamp?

Third, this is pretty dang cool no matter how you slice it. You need to laminate this issue pronto!

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Complete Animated Series   14 years 3 days ago

Well what about at the end of zelda II, the adventure of Link? They do kiss when the curtain falls or at least that's what the audience is meant to assume.

    Very nice reviews so far.

And 360 "achievements" for a racing game of this sort? That seems pretty crazy unless most were easy enough to do just playing through the game (which is what I'm also guessing). Certainly could keep people busy though.

  • Okami   14 years 4 days ago

If you can get through the first hour of gameplay, it is a fun and exciting game. :]
I love it, but just not the first hour. D:
And does anybody else get seriously annoyed when you mess up when you practice your first technique, and Issun has to repeat himself until you get it right?!?!
Ugh. Great review, by the way. Very truthful. I like your reviews very much. Original. :]

I want it. That was brilliant

  • The Saboteur   14 years 1 week ago

I have the midnight show code as I bought this game new. All it does is remove the pasties from the dancers and unlock a lower level below the dance hall where you can gamble or get lap dances. What a waste. I actually wish there was a code to put bikini tops or something less revealing on the dancers. This is a fun game and one I'd like my wife to watch me play. Unfortunately, the gratuitous nudity makes that impossible.

  • Red Steel 2   14 years 1 week ago

Wow, sounds like you really liked it. That's awesome. I've had this on my buy list for quite some time. But as usual, I'm waiting for a bargain. Now I'm more antsy to play it than I was before. Thanks for the awesome review, very thorough.

  • Retiring my Nintendo DS Phat   14 years 1 week ago

I got both a DS and a PSP recently (I'm even more behind the times) and I have to say that I enjoy them more than consoles. I like the DS a little better than the PSP, but sadly my charger for my DS doesn't work with 240V in the Netherlands, so I only have my PSP with me for the next couple months. Luckily portable games are region free so I can get some new ones here!

  • Kirby Super Star   14 years 1 week ago

The game certainly isn't perfect, thanks primarily to the lack of any challenge, but the overwhelming variety of copy abilities and attacks keeps me coming back. It kills me that Japan got this on their virtual console in October and we're still waiting for it.

  • Phantasy Star Zero   14 years 1 week ago

k your lucky enough for the first quest not to glitch out because for me Kai won't leave and im annoyed now because i have 2 constantly re do the first quest to lvl and so i can find out what went wrong if you have any clues as 2 why im glitching out please tell me.

  • Iron Man 2 Conference Q&A   14 years 1 week ago

Thanks for the information, I was trying to cross check this when I saw the name but I couldn't find much information on it, unfortunately, I just left it. It definitely appears though that Loomis is the voice of Tony Stark in the Iron Man 2 game though, but I'm not really sure why Mike McHale would have said what he said.

  • Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter   14 years 1 week ago

This game reminds me of Duke Nukem in so many ways. Why can't Duke Nukem forever just come out already? D:

  • Kirby Super Star   14 years 1 week ago

This was the first game I ever beat in its entirety.

  • Retiring my Nintendo DS Phat   14 years 1 week ago

They're games you can play wherever, not to mention that the DS has the touch screen tech that makes games a little more interesting to play.

  • Retiring my Nintendo DS Phat   14 years 1 week ago

What makes the DS so wonderful is that the graphics are inbetween the N64 and SNES. It brings back the feel of older, great games while adding something new to the mix as well as displaying awesome colors and sound.
